Dear Parents,
This week saw the beginning of Lent, the period of time in which we, in rememberance, await the blessed resurrection of our Lord. Part of the annual season’s activities involves various classes leading the school through the Stations of the Cross. Our fifth grade class will be leading the school through the stations on Friday, March 2, at 1:15pm. Ms. Lee has already begun preparing them for this wonderful event. Please feel free to come and join us on Friday! It is sure to be moving and beautiful. Also with regard with this Lenten season, each class has a block of time to go to the church and participate in confession. Our class will be going next Wednesday at 10:30am.
This week’s topics of study included the following: in Math we continued our unit on fractions; in Science we continued our Earth Science unit (particularly the study of climate and the greenhouse effect); in English we continued our study of quotations and punctuation; in Social Studies we continued our unit on the Revolutionary War; and we completed our most recent unit in Vocab and took a test.
Our Student Learning Expectation (SLE) for this week was F.2 – Technologically competent individuals who demonstrate appropriate use of the computer. Congratulations to Devin Fitzgerald for being the recipient of this week’s SLE award!
Please remind your students that if they need or desire extra help in any subject that they can find me in my room before school and during recess. With regard to math, we are beginning some concepts (fractions and decimals, and conversions from one to the other) that are more difficult in nature, and so if you see your student struggling please remind them that I am here to help. This also applies to any other subject for that matter.
Have a great weekend! May God bless you.
Jimmy Sisco
